Perth Mint's annual Lunar Series has run in various incarnations since 1996, making the mouse year issues part of a well-established collector program rather than a one-off novelty. The "Pumpkin" colorway is one of several variant finishes released for this date, a practice Perth Mint adopted to segment the collector market and drive secondary purchases within the same year's release.
Elizabeth II's sixth effigy, sculpted by Jody Clark, was introduced on Australian coinage in 2019.
