The Great Aussie Coin Hunt series — first run in 2019 in partnership with supermarket chain Woolworths — was a circulation promotion designed to drive foot traffic by releasing lettered dollars into general change. The second iteration launched in 2021 with a fresh A–Z set of Australiana subjects, each letter paired with a distinctly local noun. The campaign was overtly commercial in origin, yet it achieved genuine public engagement with circulating coinage at a moment when cashless payments were accelerating sharply across Australia.
"N" in the second hunt was assigned to the numbat, Western Australia's endangered state fauna emblem.
