Aanvullende informatie

The Zuytdorp was a Dutch East India Company vessel that wrecked on the Western Australian coast near the Murchison River cliffs in 1712, almost certainly killing all aboard — no survivors ever reached a European settlement, and the wreck wasn't positively identified until 1954. What makes the site historically charged is the genetic evidence: isolated Aboriginal communities in the Murchison region carry markers consistent with Dutch admixture, suggesting at least some crew survived long enough to have children with local Nanda people before dying or being absorbed entirely.

The wreck was added to the Western Australian Museum's protected list, and recovery efforts have been complicated by the sheer inaccessibility of the cliff-face site.
