The Zeewijk was a Dutch East India Company (VOC) vessel that wrecked on Half Moon Reef off the Western Australian coast in 1727, stranding 208 men. Over the following months, the survivors constructed a small vessel from the wreck's timber and salvaged materials — one of the few recorded instances of 18th-century castaways successfully building a seaworthy craft from scratch. Only 88 men completed the voyage to Batavia.
Divers have recovered VOC artifacts from the site since the 1970s, and the wreck remains protected under Western Australian heritage legislation.
