Beschrijving voorzijde The sixth portrait effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark occupies a circular medallion at the upper apex of the triangular flan, depicted as a mature, diademed and draped bust facing right, wearing a pearl necklace. The legend ELIZABETH II · AUSTRALIA 2020 arcs around the portrait within a decorative scalloped border. Below, the primary field presents a detailed narrative scene depicting the wreck of the Dutch VOC vessel Vergulde Draeck: survivors struggle in turbulent waves alongside an overturned longboat, while the distant ship founders in heavy seas. The lower field is strewn with scattered silver Spanish reales, an open treasure chest, ceramic vessels, ship's timbers, and a starfish, all rendered in fine relief. The denomination ONE DOLLAR appears in the exergue at the base of the design.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse presents a heraldic composition centered on a detailed depiction of the Dutch East India Company (VOC) fluyt Vergulde Draeck under full sail on open water, rendered in fine engraved relief. At the apex, a gilded dragon crest with flanking cannon and flags serves as a heraldic supporter above the ship. Flanking the central sailing vessel are two rampant sea-dragons, their scaled bodies entwined with decorative floral garlands. A scrolled ribbon banner below the ship bears the legend VERGULDE DRAECK and the wreck date 1656. The fineness and weight specifications 1 oz .999 Ag appear along the lower margin, with the engraver's initials AB visible in the lower right field.
