The Swan series launched by the Perth Mint in 2016 follows a now-familiar marketing formula: annual design changes on a one-ounce bullion vehicle to drive repeat collector purchases. The 2019 release is the fourth in that run. Sixth-portrait coinage for Elizabeth II used the Jody Clark effigy, adopted across Commonwealth mints from 2015 onward following the standard portrait-update cycle managed by the Royal Mint in London.
.9999 fineness — four nines — became the Perth Mint's competitive answer to the Canadian Maple Leaf, which had held that purity standard since 1982 while most sovereign mints still worked to .999.
