背面描述 The central field features a boldly rendered left-facing full-body depiction of an Elaphrosaurus, a slender bipedal theropod dinosaur, shown in dynamic stride with its long neck extended and tail counterbalancing. The denomination 1 DOLLAR is inscribed in large numerals and text across the lower central field, with the dinosaur's feet overlapping the lettering. The legend AUSTRALIAN DINOSAURS arcs along the upper periphery, and the species name ELAPHROSAURUS curves along the lower border. A small square privy mark appears to the right of the design on the privymarked variant.

附加信息

Elaphrosaurus bambergi was described from a single, nearly headless skeleton excavated in Tanzania between 1909 and 1913 during the German Tendaguru expedition — one of the most productive African fossil digs of the colonial era. Its placement within theropod taxonomy remained contested for decades; only in 2020 did a reassessment of a juvenile forelimb from Australia confirm that elaphrosaurs had indeed reached the southern continent during the Cretaceous. That finding directly prompted this coin's inclusion in the Australian Dinosaurs series.
