| Obverse description | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the George IV State Diadem and drop earrings, rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field. The portrait, designed by Vladimir Gottwald, represents the fifth definitive effigy of the Queen used on Australian coinage. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left periphery, with AUSTRALIA and the date 2010 continuing around the right and lower periphery. The engraver's initials VG appear as a small mark at the base of the portrait near the truncation. |
