The Solomon Islands had direct skin in this history — Guadalcanal, Tulagi, and the surrounding waters were among the most savagely contested terrain of the Pacific War, fought within miles of where the issuing authority now sits. The December 1941 attack on Pearl Harbour pulled the United States into that theater, ultimately bringing the fighting to Solomon Islander doorsteps by mid-1942.
KM#30a is the silver variant of a base-metal issue struck the same year, differentiated by composition rather than design revision.
