Beschrijving keerzijde A stylised mermaid is depicted in dynamic high relief at the centre of the field, her upper body turned to face left while her elaborately scaled fish tail curves gracefully beneath her. Her long flowing hair streams outward, adorned with a flower, and she holds a large scallop shell in one hand. The word MERMAID arches across the upper field in bold incuse lettering, and the Perth Mint's P mintmark appears at the bottom of the field.

Aanvullende informatie

Issued as part of the Perth Mint's Young Collectors series, a program designed to draw children into the hobby through novelty themes rather than historical subject matter. The series drew predictable criticism from traditional collectors but moved product effectively — Perth had already demonstrated with its coloured and shaped coin programs through the 2000s that the secondary market for themed issues was far larger than the purist camp admitted.
