Obverse description The fourth portrait effigy of Queen Elizabeth II faces right, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara, as designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. The legend ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 2011 1 DOLLAR encircles the bust, with the engraver's initials IRB appearing below the truncation. The design is rendered in a restrained, classical style characteristic of Commonwealth coinage of the period.

Reverse description The reverse depicts a fully rendered, three-dimensional caricature of a Goblin — a fantastical creature from folklore — shown in a dynamic, forward-leaning stance occupying the majority of the field. The creature is portrayed with exaggerated features including a large hooked nose, pointed ears, horns, and a wide grinning mouth, and is dressed in buckled boots, a belted tunic, and a feathered hat. The inscription GOBLIN appears in bold relief along the left field, with the initials TV P also present in the field. The Perth Mint's P mintmark is visible at the bottom of the coin below the design. The piece is part of the Young Collectors series aimed at introducing children to coin collecting through mythological and fantasy imagery.
