Aanvullende informatie

Australia's Lunar Series I ran from 1996 to 2007, one zodiac animal per year, and the 2002 Horse was struck in a mintage capped at 30,000 pieces for the one-ounce silver. The Perth Mint launched the series partly to compete with the Chinese Panda and Canadian Maple Leaf in the growing bullion-collector crossover market — coins designed to attract buyers who wanted both metal content and numismatic interest.

Ian Rank-Broadley's fourth portrait of Elizabeth II debuted on Australian coinage in 1999, making this among the earlier Horse-year issues to carry it.
