Issued to mark the centenary of women's suffrage in Australia — a milestone that carries genuine historical weight, given that Australia was only the second country in the world to grant women the federal right to vote, following New Zealand's lead in 1893. The Commonwealth Franchise Act passed in 1902, though it deliberately excluded Aboriginal women and men, a restriction that would not be fully rectified until 1962.
