Reverse description Central design features a boldly struck kangaroo in mid-bound facing left, positioned before a pad-printed colour scene depicting the Perth skyline reflected in the Swan River, with a black swan swimming in the foreground and green foreshore at lower left. To the upper right of the kangaroo, a sprig of Kangaroo Paw, the floral emblem of Western Australia, is rendered in raised relief. The numeral 1 appears prominently at the top of the field flanked by the legends AUSTRALIA $1 to the left and WESTERN AUSTRALIA to the right along the upper rim. The Perth Mint mintmark P is incuse at the lower centre, and the designer's initials EM appear in the field near the Kangaroo Paw sprig.
