| Additional information |
Part of the Royal Australian Mint's state and territory series, this dollar marks the centenary of Western Australia's 1909 federal transfer of the Fremantle Naval Base to Commonwealth control — one of the last significant acts of post-federation asset handover between the state and federal governments. Pad printing, rather than traditional engraving, was used to apply the color, a technique the RAM adopted for these commemorative issues to allow chromatic detail impossible through conventional die work.
