Additional information

Issued to mark the centenary of the Armistice ending World War One, this is one of dozens of commemorative dollars Perth Mint released across the 2014–2018 period tied to the WWI centenary program — a coordinated Australian government initiative that funded commemorative coinage, memorials, and educational projects throughout the four-year cycle. The phrase "We Will Remember Them" derives from Laurence Binyon's 1914 poem "For the Fallen," written just weeks after war broke out, before the full scale of casualties was yet known.

The fourth portrait of Elizabeth II, by Ian Rank-Broadley, was introduced on Australian coinage in 1999.
