Part of the Perth Mint's ongoing colored commemorative program, this rectangular silver dollar belongs to a "Vintage Travel Poster" series that drew on the graphic design vocabulary of mid-20th century Australian tourism advertising. The pad-printing process — a transfer technique borrowed from industrial manufacturing — allows full-color reproduction on curved or irregular surfaces without the enamel filling used on earlier colored coins. It produces vivid results but remains more susceptible to surface wear than cloisonné or vitreous enamel applications.
