The Great Aussie Coin Hunt was a Royal Australian Mint circulation campaign that released 26 aluminium bronze dollars into everyday change in 2019, each assigned a letter of the alphabet paired with an object meant to evoke Australian life. The silver proof counterparts were struck for collectors who wanted the complete set in a more permanent form. "J" in the series stood for jackaroo — the term for a young male station hand working on a sheep or cattle property, a word with disputed origins but in common use since the mid-nineteenth century.
