Obverse description The fourth portrait effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, faces right in right profile, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left rim and AUSTRALIA 2016 along the right rim, both in raised Latin characters. The denomination 1 DOLLAR appears in the lower field, flanked by raised dots, with the engraver's initials IRB incuse beneath the truncation of the neck. The portrait is rendered in high relief against a frosted, mirror-polished field.
