Issued by the Perth Mint to mark Elizabeth II's eightieth birthday in 2006, this is one of dozens of commemorative dollars the mint produced during the 2000s targeting the collector market rather than circulation. The fourth portrait, by Ian Rank-Broadley, had been in use since 1998 and appears across virtually all Australian coinage of the period.
No particular minting curiosity distinguishes this issue.
