Reverse description The reverse depicts a scene from Mem Fox's celebrated Australian children's picture book Possum Magic, showing the possum character Hush rendered visible and resting on a branch alongside Grandma Poss, who cradles Hush tenderly. The Southern Cross constellation appears in the upper field rendered as five stars, reinforcing the Australian identity of the design. The curved legend POSSUM MAGIC arcs across the upper portion of the field, while the denomination 1 DOLLAR is inscribed in two lines across the lower field. The design was engraved by Bronwyn King in a style faithful to Julie Vivas's original illustrations from the book.
