| Reverse description | The reverse features a colorful artistic depiction of Te Hau-ā-uru, the west wind, rendered in pad-printed color. The design employs rich green tones evoking the lush, rain-fed landscapes of New Zealand's western coasts, characteristic of the prevailing westerly winds. Stylized flowing forms suggest wind movement and organic natural elements in a contemporary Māori-inspired aesthetic. The bilingual legend at top reads NGĀ HAU E WHĀ - THE FOUR WINDS - TE HAU-Ā-URU, identifying the series and specific wind depicted. The denomination appears at the bottom in both English and te reo Māori as ONE DOLLAR - KOTAHI TĀRA. |

| Additional information |
Part of a four-coin series whose title draws from the Māori concept of the four winds, this issue represents the western wind, Te Hau-ā-uru, which in traditional Māori cosmology carried particular significance as a bringer of rain from the Tasman Sea. The Reserve Bank commissioned the series as a collector release rather than circulating currency — the pad-printing technique used on the silver flan allows colour application that conventional minting cannot achieve.
