| Reverse description | The reverse commemorates the decade of the Australian one-dollar banknote, in circulation from 1984 to 1994. A detailed engraving of the Australian one-dollar paper note is depicted centrally, showing both the obverse and reverse faces of the note with the word AUSTRALIA repeated across it and serial numbers along the lower portion. Overlapping the left side of the banknote is a circular vignette reproducing the reverse design of the one-dollar coin, featuring a group of five kangaroos and the denomination ONE DOLLAR. The years 1984 and 1994 are prominently inscribed in large numerals above and below the central design respectively, framing the composition. |

The "Dollar Decade" release was part of the Royal Australian Mint's Masterpieces in Silver program, which packaged proof-quality strikes alongside circulating coinage in collector sets — a format the RAM leaned on heavily through the late 1990s and 2000s to sustain collector revenue as circulation demand for dollar coins plateaued. The four-coin dollar series itself commemorated the introduction of the Australian one-dollar coin in 1984.
Ian Rank-Broadley's effigy of Elizabeth II, adopted as the fourth portrait across Commonwealth coinage from 1998, appears here in its sharper proof rendering — the .999 fine silver stock showing considerably more detail than the standard aluminium bronze circulation strikes.
