1 Dollar - Elizabeth II 4th Portrait - Macquarie Lighthouse

The Macquarie Lighthouse at South Head, Sydney, was designed by Francis Greenway — a convicted forger transported to Australia in 1814, who became the colony's de facto government architect under Lachlan Macquarie. The original 1818 structure developed critical faults and was replaced on the same site in 1883, but Greenway's foundational role in Australian civic architecture gave the subject an obvious appeal for commemorative coinage.

This dollar is part of the RAM's broader Landmark series. Aluminium bronze strikes from this mint in this period are known to exhibit minor die fatigue on high-volume commemorative runs.
