Aanvullende informatie

Part of the Australian War Memorial's "Letters From Home" commemorative program, this dollar was issued to mark the centenary of the First World War — a conflict in which over 60,000 Australians died from a population of fewer than five million. The Perth Mint produced several themed releases across the centenary window, each tied to a specific aspect of the Australian experience on the Western Front and at Gallipoli.

Aluminium bronze dollars of this type circulated freely alongside standard issues, meaning many examples absorbed genuine pocket wear before collectors took notice.
