| Additional information |
Issued as part of the Royal Australian Mint's extended Lest We Forget series commemorating the Royal Australian Navy, this dollar appeared in the same year Australia marked the centenary of the RAN's establishment — the fleet having been formally created by the Naval Defence Act of 1910. The coin entered circulation primarily through annual mint sets and remembered service extending from the Coral Sea to the East Timor deployments.
The 4th portrait of Elizabeth II, by Ian Rank-Broadley, had been in use on Australian coinage since 1999.
