Obverse description The fourth-portrait effigy of Queen Elizabeth II faces right, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, rendered in finely detailed relief by engraver Ian Rank-Broadley, whose initials IRB appear below the truncation. The mirrored proof field provides a stark, polished contrast to the frosted effigy. The legend ELIZABETH II flanked by two raised dots arcs across the upper field, with AUSTRALIA 2013 continuing along the right periphery. The denomination 1 DOLLAR is inscribed along the lower arc, also separated by raised dots.

Reverse description The reverse features a sculpted, frosted figure of Captain James Cook in 18th-century naval attire occupying the lower left of the field, depicted in three-quarter view. Behind him, a pad-printed polychrome cartographic rendering of the Australian continent is superimposed, incorporating a period tall ship flying the British ensign navigating coastal waters, native flora, and the island of Tasmania shown separately to the lower right. The legend THE LAND DOWN UNDER arcs in relief along the right periphery, while the inscription 1 OZ 999 SILVER appears along the lower border. The Perth Mint's P mintmark is visible within the design field.
