Obverse description Struck in high relief, the obverse features the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, depicted in right-facing profile with a jewelled tiara and drop earring. The truncation of the bust is visible at the lower centre, bearing the engraver's initials 'IRB'. The legend 'ELIZABETH II' arcs along the upper left field and 'AUSTRALIA' along the upper right, while the denomination '1 DOLLAR' is inscribed along the lower arc. Two raised dots flank the base of the portrait, separating the legend from the denomination, against a deeply mirrored field characteristic of proof-quality striking.
