The Perth Mint's high-relief strikes require dies pressed at significantly lower speeds with fewer blanks per hour, making production runs deliberately small. This 2013 koala issue was struck in that format partly as a response to collector demand generated by the Royal Canadian Mint's high-relief programs, which had demonstrated strong secondary market performance for the technique after 2007.
