Additional information

Australia's silver koala bullion series launched in 2007 as Perth Mint's answer to the Kookaburra, which had run since 1990. Unlike the Kookaburra, the Koala series changes its reverse design annually — a deliberate strategy to encourage year-set collecting rather than purely weight-driven accumulation. The 2010 issue was produced during a period of sharply rising silver prices that preceded the metal's April 2011 spike toward $50 USD per troy ounce, driving unusually strong retail demand for Perth Mint's one-ounce silver products across that vintage.
