| Obverse description | The fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, modelled by Ian Rank-Broadley, faces right in right-facing portrait, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara. The legend ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 2011 1 DOLLAR encircles the portrait, with the engraver's initials IRB truncated below the bust. The design is rendered in high relief against a plain field. |

Part of Perth Mint's ongoing "Treasures of Australia" series, this issue highlights the Greater Blue Mountains Area — a UNESCO World Heritage Site designated in 2000, recognized specifically for its exceptional representation of eucalypt diversity. The pad-printing technique, applied directly to the struck planchet, was adopted by Perth Mint in the late 2000s to achieve photographic-quality color that conventional enamel or painting processes couldn't reliably replicate at volume. The process bonds colored ink layers under heat and pressure, making it more durable in handling than it looks.
