Reverse description A Ghost Bat (Macroderma gigas), Australia's largest carnivorous bat, is depicted in dynamic flight across the central field, its broad, membranous wings fully extended against a textured background evoking rocky cave-dwelling habitat rendered in high relief. The animal's distinctive facial features, including its large ears and nose-leaf, are rendered with fine naturalistic detail in the lower left. A decorative circular inner border frames the composition. The species name GHOST BAT is inscribed in capital letters along the lower exergue. The Perth Mint privy mark P and the designer's initials WR appear discreetly within the design.
