Part of Perth Mint's 2008 Discover Australia series, which used pad printing — an industrial transfer technique borrowed from commercial product decoration — to apply color directly onto the struck silver surface. The process was still relatively novel in numismatic production at the time, and early issues in the series attracted scrutiny over long-term color adhesion. Brisbane's inclusion reflects the series' focus on Australian cities and landmarks rather than fauna, which dominated other sub-series released concurrently under the same Discover Australia umbrella.
