Muttaburrasaurus langdoni was unearthed near Muttaburra, Queensland in 1963 and remains one of the most complete dinosaur skeletons ever found in Australia. The Perth Mint's 2015 dinosaur series leaned heavily on this domestic scientific significance — these were not generic prehistoric novelties but a deliberate effort to put Australian paleontological finds on bullion-adjacent collectibles. The pad-printing technique, applied over the struck silver surface, was still relatively novel in Australian numismatic production at this point, and color adhesion on early issues has proven inconsistent enough to affect eye appeal on otherwise pristine examples.
