| 背面描述 | A pad-printed colored bust of Dame Nellie Melba in right profile occupies the central field against a black background, rendered with naturalistic skin tones and period styling. To the left, an intricately engraved sprig of wattle blossom with foliage provides a distinctly Australian botanical motif. Across the lower field, a sweeping engraved musical staff bearing notes and a treble clef alludes to Melba's celebrated operatic career. The curved legend DAME NELLIE MELBA - 1861 - 1931 arcs across the upper field, with the Perth Mint P mintmark at lower left, the engraver's initials AH at lower left near the flowers, and the inscription 1oz 999 SILVER in a cartouche at the base. |

Dame Nellie Melba — born Helen Porter Mitchell in Richmond, Victoria, in 1861 — took her stage name from Melbourne and became the first Australian to achieve genuine international operatic celebrity, performing at Covent Garden and the Paris Opéra at the height of her fame. She was also among the earliest classical artists to record for gramophone, making her voice commercially available to audiences who would never see a stage. The pad-printing technique used on this issue allows chromatic detail impossible through traditional striking, a process Perth has used selectively for portrait and commemorative releases since the mid-2000s.
