Additional information

Part of Perth Mint's "Discover Australia" series, this dollar was issued to mark features of the Australian geological interior. The Wolfe Creek Crater in Western Australia — one of the world's largest meteorite impact sites, with an impactor estimated to have struck roughly 300,000 years ago — was among the subjects promoted through this program. Perth Mint issued the series in both circulating and collector formats, with the latter commanding premiums that bear little relation to face value.
