| Additional information |
Part of New Zealand Post's long-running Antipodean Dollar series, this issue highlights Coal Island (Te Puka o Te Waka a Māui) in Foveaux Strait — a predator-free reserve managed by the Department of Conservation that has become a critical refuge for Fiordland crested penguins and Whenua Hou diving petrels. The commemorative dollar program, which pairs the fourth Maklouf portrait of Elizabeth II with conservation subjects, has no legal tender circulation function in practice; these are sold directly to collectors.
