The Australian Silver Swan series launched in 2017 as Perth Mint's answer to the long-dominant bullion programs from the Royal Canadian Mint and U.S. Treasury. Each annual release carries a new swan design, making the series a deliberate collector-driver within the one-ounce silver bullion market. The 2018 issue was the second in the run.
Perth's .9999 fineness specification edges out the more common .999 standard used by most competing sovereign mints — a distinction that became a quiet selling point in Asian markets, where fine silver purity carries particular commercial weight.
