Part of a four-coin seasonal series issued by the Perth Mint in 2013, each piece in the set was struck to the same specifications with frosted relief against a mirror field. The Winter release is the third in the sequence. Australia has no meteorological winter in the northern hemisphere sense, so the series maps the concept onto the Southern Hemisphere calendar — June through August — a distinction that occasionally confuses northern collectors cataloging the set.
