| Reverse description | Two kookaburras perched on a branch are depicted in high relief at centre, rendered in fine naturalistic detail characteristic of the Australian Kookaburra bullion series. A small privy mark representing the New Jersey State Quarter appears in the upper left field, referencing the 50 State Quarters programme. The coin's specifications and date are inscribed in the surrounding legend, with the Perth Mint's mintmark incorporated into the design. |

The New Jersey privy mark on this coin commemorates the state's 1999 position in the U.S. Mint's 50 State Quarters program — Perth seized on American collector appetite for crossover issues by issuing a series of Kookaburra dollars with corresponding privy marks throughout that program's run. It was a sharp piece of marketing, targeting a U.S. collector base already conditioned to chase state-by-state completions.
New Jersey was the third state quarter released, in May 1999.
