Obverse description The fourth portrait effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, sculpted by Ian Rank-Broadley, facing right, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara. The legend 'ELIZABETH II' arcs across the upper field with 'AUSTRALIA' to the right, and the denomination '1 DOLLAR' appears along the lower border, all separated by raised dot stops. A fine inner beaded border frames the central field, and the engraver's initials 'IRB' appear in small relief below the truncation of the neck.
