The Alphabet Collection was issued by the Royal Australian Mint across 2015–2017 as a circulating series targeting children's engagement with coinage — one of several literacy-linked programs the RAM has pursued. Twenty-six coins, one per letter, entered general circulation through standard channels rather than collector packs alone, making complete sets genuinely difficult to assemble from pocket change. The pad-printing process used for the coloured elements was still relatively novel for Australian circulation coinage at the time of issue.
