| Reverse description | The reverse design is adapted from the obverse of the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Victory Medals, originally created by Australian-born goldsmith and Royal Designer Stuart Devlin AO CMG. The composition features a central allegorical figure symbolising Paralympic athletic achievement, rendered in high relief. The legend PARALYMPIC SUMMER GAMES arcs along the upper periphery, with SYDNEY 2000 inscribed in the lower portion of the field. |

Issued to mark the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games, which were held in October of that year immediately following the Olympics — the first time a host city had committed contractually to staging both events at the same scale and in the same venues. The Royal Australian Mint produced this piece as part of a broader commemorative program that was, by volume and variety, one of the most ambitious coin series Australia had undertaken for a single sporting event.
The Sydney Games are widely credited with reshaping public perception of Paralympic sport, drawing television audiences that dwarfed any previous edition.
