Reverse description The classic Voyageur reverse, designed by Emanuel Hahn, depicts a First Nations paddler and a voyageur seated in a birch-bark canoe traversing open water past a rocky islet bearing two wind-swept conifers. Vertical lines in the background field evoke the aurora borealis. The legend CANADA arcs across the upper portion of the coin, with the date 1977 and denomination DOLLAR completing the circular legend, all contained within a beaded rim.
