The Battle of Waterloo bicentennial in 2015 prompted a flood of commemorative issues from mints and licensing authorities worldwide, and the Solomon Islands — a Commonwealth realm with no historical connection to the Napoleonic Wars — issued several such pieces through the standard Pacific commemorative licensing channels that have operated since the 1970s.
