Issued to mark the twentieth anniversary of German reunification on October 3, 1990, this Perth Mint piece commemorates one of the most rapid state mergers in modern history — the Deutsche Mark was extended to East Germany on July 1, 1990, a full three months before political unification was formalized, effectively absorbing the GDR's economy before its government had ceased to exist.
