正面描述 Intaglio portrait of Queen Elizabeth II at right, rendered in fine engraved detail against a multicolour guilloche underprint in pale green and lilac tones. The Fijian coat of arms, supported by two warrior figures with the motto 'Rerevaka na Kalou ka Doka na Tui', occupies the centre of the note. A traditional Fijian tanoa (kava bowl) artifact appears at the far right, with denomination numerals '$1' at upper left and lower right.

背面描述 Central vignette depicts a busy open-air market scene in Suva, with vendors and shoppers crowded around produce stalls and a large passenger vessel visible in the harbour background. A Fijian tanoa artifact vignette appears at the left margin, set within an intricate geometric border incorporating traditional Fijian tapa cloth patterns. Denomination panels '$1' and 'FIJI' appear in ornate guilloche rosettes at the upper corners, with the printer's imprint 'BRADBURY WILKINSON' at the lower centre.

备注

Pick 86a was issued in the immediate aftermath of the two military coups of 1987, when Lieutenant Colonel Sitiveni Rabuka seized power in May and again in September, ultimately declaring Fiji a republic and severing ties with the Commonwealth. The Reserve Bank continued issuing Elizabeth II notes into this period — a striking administrative lag that left the Queen's portrait circulating on Fijian currency even as her role as head of state was being formally abolished.

Bradbury Wilkinson's intaglio work on this series is clean but unremarkable. The firm closed in 1990, absorbed into De La Rue, making this among the final Fijian issues to bear their imprint.
