New Zealand's switch to decimal currency in July 1967 required an entirely new note series produced at speed — De La Rue delivered the initial stocks before the changeover date, with the 1 Dollar replacing the old 10-shilling note at par. The series ran through four governors' signatures across fourteen years, making Fleming-signed examples the earliest and Hardie-signed notes the latest in the run.
Knight-signed notes are the scarcest of the four signature varieties and command a meaningful premium in higher grades.
