Aanvullende informatie

The Calgary Stampede launched in 1912 as a one-time farewell celebration to the open-range cattle era, organized by American showman Guy Weadick with backing from four wealthy ranchers known as the "Big Four." It was never supposed to become an annual event. The 1923 revival — again pushed by Weadick — cemented its permanence, and by the centennial the Stampede had grown into one of the largest outdoor rodeo events in the world, drawing upwards of a million visitors annually.

The Royal Canadian Mint issued this piece as part of a broader commemorative program for the anniversary year. The .9999 fine silver specification places it among the Mint's higher-purity collector issues of the period.
