At the centre, a raised circular medallion depicts the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Liberia, featuring a sailing ship, a palm tree, a rising sun, a dove in flight, and a plough, all enclosed within a wreath. A scrolled ribbon within the arms bears the national motto 'THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE'. The date '2026' is divided on either side of the central shield. The legend 'REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA' arcs above the central medallion, and the denomination 'ONE DOLLAR' is inscribed below. The surrounding field of the skull-shaped flan is rendered in high relief with a textured, eroded surface evoking a decayed cranial form. |

Liberia has a long history of issuing novelty collector pieces marketed heavily through television and internet channels — coins with unusual themes, embedded elements, or pop-culture branding that bear little relation to the country's actual monetary history. This piece falls squarely in that category. The "Dead Beat" dollar is a privately commissioned collectible produced for a foreign distributor, struck in a base metal alloy and sold at a significant markup over face value to collectors who may not distinguish it from a historically significant issue.
Liberia's government has licensed its name to dozens of such programs since the 1990s, making these pieces legal tender in name only.
